Carnival Vista Makes Emergency Stop in St. Thomas for Crew Member Medevac
On February 13, 2025, the Carnival Vista experienced an unexpected return to St. Thomas, USVI, shortly after departing from Charlotte Amalie Port. The ship was forced to change course due to an injury sustained by a crew member, who reportedly fell and may have suffered a broken leg.
According to Mark Sabino, the director of marine and cruise services at the West Indian Company (WICO), the ship was on dock until 7:00 AM before the incident occurred. Rather than continue with its planned itinerary, the Carnival Vista headed back to the WICO dock to allow for the crew member’s medical transfer to shore.
Following the medical evacuation, the Carnival Vista resumed its voyage at 8:00 PM as per schedule. The ship’s itinerary included two days at sea before concluding its journey at Port Canaveral, Florida, on Sunday morning.
