
British Tourist Airlifted from Cruise Ship to Hospital Due to Heart Problems Off the Coast of Spain
A British woman was airlifted from the Sky Princess cruise ship after suffering a heart emergency while off the coast of Spain. The incident occurred shortly after the ship departed from Vigo, with the vessel heading toward Funchal, Madeira, approximately five miles from Cape Silleiro.
The Spanish coastguard was called to action, sending a Pesca 1 helicopter to conduct the medical evacuation. The woman was transported to Álvaro Cunqueiro Hospital in Vigo for urgent medical attention.
The Sky Princess, operated by Princess Cruises, has been in service since 2019 and has a capacity of 3,660 passengers. The ship weighs 145,281 tonnes. A statement from the coastguard confirmed their involvement in the emergency, detailing that the woman was evacuated shortly after the ship began its journey.
Princess Cruises has not yet commented on the incident.
