Norwegian Aqua Makes a Splash in NYC Ahead of 2025 Launch: A First Look at NCL’s Latest Ship
On April 7, 2025, Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest ship, Norwegian Aqua, made its debut in New York City for a two-day preview event. Scheduled to officially launch service in August 2025, the ship will offer voyages to Bermuda.
Norwegian Aqua is the inaugural vessel of NCL’s Prima Plus class, featuring enhancements in design and amenities compared to its predecessors, Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva. It boasts about 10% more volume and passenger capacity, with innovative features appealing to leisure and active travelers alike.
Among its unique attractions is the Aqua Slidecoaster, a hybrid waterslide and rollercoaster spanning three decks, promising two exhilarating ride experiences with a high-speed propulsion system. Additionally, the ship introduces Glow Court, a multifunctional digital sports venue that transforms into a vibrant nightlife spot at night.
Public spaces onboard have been enlarged and diversified. The Vibe Beach Club, now an adults-only lounge, includes cabanas and extended oceanfront areas. Families can enjoy various recreational facilities, including The Stadium, a ten-deck dry slide, and the Aqua Game Zone filled with both classic and modern arcade games. A dedicated spa area, Mandara Spa, features thermal suites and comprehensive treatment options.
The dining experience is similarly broadened, with 17 restaurants and 18 bars and lounges. Noteworthy establishments include the redesigned Metropolitan Bar with live piano performances. Entertainment offerings consist of productions like Revolution: A Celebration of Prince, Elements: The World Expanded, as well as game show-style events such as The Price is Right LIVE.
Norwegian Aqua’s christening is set for April 13, 2025, in Miami, with actor Eric Stonestreet serving as the godfather. After its initial itineraries in the Caribbean from Port Canaveral through July 2025, the ship will reposition to New York City for Bermuda sailings from August to October 2025. This will be followed by voyages to the Eastern Caribbean from Miami starting in October 2025 until April 2026, with stops at NCL’s private island, Great Stirrup Cay, where a new multi-ship pier will be operational by late 2025.
Travelers aboard Norwegian Aqua can benefit from the newly launched More At Sea program, which offers a variety of bundled amenities, including premium beverage packages, specialty dining credits, high-speed internet, shore excursion credits, and special airfare and family deals for select voyages.
