Adora Magic City Expands Coastal Operations Beyond Shanghai
China’s first large domestically built cruise ship, Adora Magic City, has begun its coastal operations from Qingdao International Cruise Home Port, which took place on April 6, 2025. This voyage marks an important milestone as it signifies the ship’s inaugural deployment beyond its homeport in Shanghai, where it had commenced commercial service on January 1, 2024.
Following its port call in Qingdao, Adora Magic City set sail for a 5-day, 4-night international cruise featuring over 4,000 passengers. The itinerary includes stops at Jeju, South Korea and Fukuoka, Japan, with another similar voyage scheduled to depart on April 10, 2025.
The vessel is an impressive 323.6 meters long and has a gross tonnage of 136,200 metric tons, accommodating 2,125 cabins and suites designed to meet international standards of comfort. The name of the ship reflects Shanghai’s local nickname, "Magic City."
Since it entered service, Adora Magic City has successfully completed over 100 sailings. Operated by Adora Cruises, which currently manages both Adora Magic City and the Mediterranea, these ships have collectively welcomed more than 560,000 passengers from both domestic and international markets.
Moreover, Adora Cruises is also working on the construction of its second large-scale cruise vessel, Adora Flora City, with a planned delivery by the end of 2026. This ship will be homeported in Guangzhou and will initiate international cruise services from this southern port.
