COP30-UN Climate Change Conference Set to Sail on Costa Diadema and MSC Seaview

In preparation for the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) set to take place in November from the 10th to the 21st in Belém, Brazil, a significant maritime logistics plan has been announced. Two notable cruise ships, Costa Diadema and MSC Seaview, will serve as floating hotels for attendees.

These vessels, accommodating over 9,500 guests in total, are scheduled to be stationed at Outeiro Port from November 5th to November 22nd, thereby extending operations one day beyond the conference’s official end date. This initiative was revealed during a briefing to representatives from 103 embassies in Brasília, emphasizing Brazil’s preparedness to host this major global event recognized by the UN.

Photographic materials showcasing the cruise ships have been shared with foreign delegates to illustrate the logistical arrangements in place. The local infrastructure is also being enhanced; the Belem Waterway Terminal will double its size to become the main reception area for guests arriving by ship.

Additionally, there are plans to provide an extra 400 accommodations in the Vila de Lideres for official delegations, with further housing options sourced from local hotels, private homes, and rental apartments. The total goal is to secure around 32,000 beds to accommodate the surge of participants attending the conference.
