Tragedy at Sea: Stag Do Turns Deadly After Man Killed on Luxury Cruise Ship

A tragic incident unfolded aboard the MSC Virtuosa cruise ship, which had set sail from Southampton for a two-night journey. During the cruise, an argument escalated into a fight resulting in the death of a 60-year-old man, believed to have been attending a stag do with friends. The confrontation broke out just hours after the ship departed.

Since the incident occurred while the ship was still in British waters, it was compelled to turn back to Southampton, where police apprehended a 57-year-old man from Exeter on suspicion of murder. The authorities have informed the victim’s next of kin and are providing them with support from specialized police officers.

A fellow passenger, Lynda Hardiman-Pearce, stated that there were numerous hen and stag parties onboard, contributing to a chaotic atmosphere. She recalled being at a bar during the night when the violent confrontation occurred. Reports indicated that the group involved in the altercation consisted of around twenty men.

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Gillooly reassured the public that this incident appears to be isolated, commending the crew for their assistance throughout the investigation. MSC Virtuosa’s representatives have also expressed their full cooperation with the authorities and support for those affected.
