Celebrity Xcel to Launch Operations Earlier Than Expected

Celebrity Cruises has made an exciting announcement regarding its upcoming ship, Celebrity Xcel, which will begin operations earlier than expected. The cruise line has scheduled a 4-night preview voyage departing from Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades, Florida) on November 9, 2025, heading to Cozumel. This preview will take place ahead of the ship’s official 5-night maiden voyage starting from Fort Lauderdale on November 18, 2025. The advancement of this schedule is due to the ship’s construction progressing faster than planned.

Guests who had originally booked for the November 18 voyage now have the option to switch their reservations to the earlier sailing. Celebrity Cruises has acknowledged that some passengers may prefer to be among the first aboard, while others may wish to take part in the inaugural events lined up for the later departure.

Celebrity Xcel is the fifth ship in the Edge Series and features several new attractions, including The Bazaar. This multi-level venue will replace the Eden space seen in earlier Edge-class ships, offering guests an immersive experience inspired by various cultures from the ship’s destinations. Visitors can expect local markets, crafts, culinary experiences, and performances, all tailored to create a festival atmosphere that evolves with the ship’s location.

Additionally, the ship introduces a tri-fuel capable engine, which is a first for Celebrity Cruises. This innovative engine allows for the use of three different types of fuel, including methanol, reflecting the company’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by the year 2050.

After completing its initial season in the Caribbean, Celebrity Xcel will reposition to Europe in April 2026 to offer Mediterranean itineraries. The design of the ship aims to enhance the connection between onboard experiences and the cultural essence of the visited destinations.
