Norwegian Aqua Sets Sail: Inaugural Season Kicks Off from Port Canaveral, Florida

Port Canaveral in Florida marked the start of the inaugural season for Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest vessel, Norwegian Aqua. This ship will embark on week-long cruises to the Caribbean and the Bahamas, highlighting the growth of cruise options in the area.

Norwegian Aqua, a PRIMA-Plus class ship, is 1,056 feet long and can host up to 3,571 guests at double occupancy. It boasts enhanced designs that include spacious outdoor areas and stunning ocean views. Among its attractions are the Aqua Slidecoaster, Infinity Beach, and the Oceanwalk glass bridge, which provide diverse leisure and entertainment experiences.

Voyages from Port Canaveral will head to several popular destinations, including Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, Tortola, and Great Stirrup Cay, continuing through August 2025. Following this, Norwegian Aqua will move to New York City for 5- and 7-day cruises to Bermuda, and then operate 7-day Eastern Caribbean trips from Miami from October 2025 through April 2026.

Capt. John Murray, CEO of Port Canaveral, stated that the port’s facilities and accessibility make it an excellent homeport for Norwegian Aqua. As more passengers choose to drive to the port, the collaboration between Port Canaveral and Norwegian Cruise Line is anticipated to elevate the cruise experience and solidify the port’s reputation as a premier cruise destination.
