Royal Caribbean Alters Itineraries Amid Ongoing Suspension of Labadee Port Calls

As of May 2025, Royal Caribbean International (RCI) has extended its halt on port calls to Labadee, Haiti, throughout the summer. This cautious decision comes in response to ongoing security issues, including rising violence and political instability in the area. Despite Labadee being over 100 miles from Port-au-Prince, the cruise line prioritizes the safety of its passengers and crew.

Multiple vessels are impacted by this decision. For example, the July 20, 2025, sailing of Oasis of the Seas, which is a 6-night Western Caribbean cruise departing from Fort Lauderdale, has replaced its scheduled stop at Labadee with a visit to Nassau, Bahamas. Similarly, Adventure of the Seas, homeported in Port Canaveral, and Liberty of the Seas, sailing from New Jersey, will also avoid Labadee during this time. Even RCI’s flagship, Icon of the Seas, will not be visiting this destination.

In light of these adjustments, RCI is redirecting ships to alternative ports where possible, including CocoCay, Grand Cayman, and Nassau. Some itineraries have been altered to allow for longer stays in ports; Oasis of the Seas will have an extended visit to Falmouth, Jamaica.

Affected guests have been informed directly about the itinerary changes, which RCI asserts are made with caution. Refunds for prepaid shore excursions booked for Labadee will be provided in the form of onboard credits.

The U.S. Department of State currently has a Level 4 travel advisory in effect for Haiti, recommending against all travel due to risks such as kidnapping, crime, civil unrest, and inadequate healthcare facilities.

Royal Caribbean has not specified a timeline for when it might resume calls to Labadee, indicating that the suspension will persist until conditions improve.
