Carnival Ship Rerouted Due to Hurricane Threat: What to Know
The Carnival Panorama had to change its course due to the emergence of two tropical systems threatening the West Coast of North America. Originating from Long Beach on June 7, the ship is currently enjoying a seven-night cruise to the Mexican Riviera.
Captain Carlo Queirolo informed guests of the necessary adjustments in a statement, explaining that the Carnival team is closely monitoring Tropical Storm Barbara and another tropical system in the Pacific. To ensure passenger safety, the itinerary was modified to keep a safe distance from the storms.
Despite the changes, Captain Queirolo reassured passengers that they would still visit all originally planned ports. The updated itinerary included visits to Cabo San Lucas, La Paz, Mazatlán, and Puerto Vallarta, although the order of the stops was altered. The planned visit to Puerto Vallarta was rescheduled for Thursday, while the ship went to Cabo San Lucas on Monday, La Paz on Tuesday, and Mazatlán on Wednesday.
The captain committed to keeping everyone informed about any further changes, emphasizing the cruise’s focus on safety and fun. Excursions booked through Carnival were also planned to be adjusted to match the new itinerary. Tropical Storm Barbara unexpectedly strengthened into a hurricane as it formed off central Mexico, marking the start of the Eastern Pacific hurricane season.
