NCL’s Norwegian Viva Makes Historic Maiden Call in Heraklion, Greece

The port of Heraklion, Greece, welcomed the Norwegian Viva, a state-of-the-art vessel from Norwegian Cruise Line’s Prima Class, on June 15th, marking its inaugural visit to the city. A special plaque exchange ceremony took place on board, attended by notable figures including Heraklion Port Authority CEO Minas Papadakis and the ship’s Captain Giorgio Voussolinos.

Norwegian Viva is set to make 14 visits to Heraklion in 2025, part of a total of 23 visits by NCL ships, demonstrating the line’s growing trust in the port’s capabilities. Mr. Papadakis emphasized that the vessel’s calls reflect Heraklion’s rising status as a key destination for major cruise lines. He reaffirmed the port authority’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and services to meet both passenger needs and operational excellence.

The arrival of the Norwegian Viva not only strengthens the collaboration between NCL and the port but also supports the local economy, showcasing Heraklion and Crete as significant cultural and gastronomic destinations for visitors.
