Norwegian Escape Marks a Decade of Exceptional Service and Memorable Voyages
The Norwegian Escape celebrated ten years of service on December 25, 2025, having been delivered to Norwegian Cruise Line on October 22, 2015. This vessel, the inaugural ship of the Breakaway Plus series, was constructed at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany over a span of 17 months.
Following its delivery, the Norwegian Escape set sail from Bremerhaven, launching a series of inaugural festivities in Europe. The schedule included a two-night visit to Southampton, followed by a trans-Atlantic journey to its first homeport in Miami. The ship was officially christened in a ceremony at PortMiami on November 10, 2015, with singer Pitbull as its godparent. The event featured unique performances, including acrobatic parkour, reflecting Norwegian’s commitment to a non-traditional cruising experience focused on freedom and flexibility.
After the ceremony, the ship commenced its inaugural season, offering seven-night cruises to Eastern Caribbean destinations such as Tortola, St. Thomas, and Nassau.
In 2026, the Norwegian Escape is slated to operate cruises from New Orleans, Miami, and New York City, offering itineraries that explore both the Western and Eastern Caribbean, along with routes to Canada and New England. The ship will also feature a trans-Atlantic crossing before undergoing a drydock in Europe for updates to its public areas and amenities, aligning with enhancements made across other ships in the Breakaway Plus class. Later in the year, it will return to North America to offer a range of short cruises from Port Canaveral.
