Transcend Cruises Expands Charter Fleet with Order of 2 Additional River Ships
Transcend Cruises, a specialized river cruise line focused on chartered group travel, has announced the expansion of its fleet with an order for two additional vessels from the Dutch shipbuilder Den Breejen Shipyard. This agreement is part of the company’s strategy to grow its fleet, bringing the total number of planned ships to four by 2028.
The first ship, Transcend Connect, is expected to begin service in July, while its sister ship, Transcend Evolve, will enter operation in 2027. Although the original timeline anticipated a 2026 launch for both vessels, this schedule has since been revised.
The new vessels will be named Transcend Create and Transcend Engage, with the former slated for delivery in October 2027 and the latter in early 2028. Following the design concept of the existing fleet, each ship will accommodate around 120 passengers.
Transcend Cruises’ vessels are tailored for the business-to-business charter market, featuring versatile interior layouts ideal for meetings, events, and group travel. Large event spaces and adaptable staterooms allow for configurations that can accommodate both intimate gatherings and full passenger loads.
The introduction of the first newbuild is a critical milestone for Transcend Cruises, marking the debut of river cruise vessels specifically designed for group travel. Additionally, the company has plans for long-term growth, with ambitions to operate up to a dozen ships in the future.
Charter agreements for the upcoming vessels are already underway, with National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions reportedly securing arrangements for two of Transcend’s ships.
