Carnival Adjusts More Caribbean Itineraries Due to Hurricane Beryl

Carnival Cruise Line has confirmed changes to the itineraries of two additional ships in the Caribbean due to Hurricane Beryl.

According to an update shared by the brand’s ambassador, John Heald, the itineraries of the Carnival Valor and the Carnival Paradise have now been impacted by the storm.

Previously, Carnival altered the itineraries of the Carnival Liberty and the Carnival Horizon due to Beryl’s path.

“Our Fleet Operations Center and shipboard teams continue to track Hurricane Beryl for possible impact to sailing operations. Safety is always our priority, and we continue to monitor forecasts with help from experts,” Heald said.

The Carnival Valor is offering a four-night cruise to Mexico. After sailing from New Orleans on July 4, the original itinerary had a scheduled visit to Cozumel on July 6.

While the vessel is currently heading to the Mexican port of call, an actual visit cannot be confirmed at this time, explained the ship’s Captain Mazzi.

“Hurricane Beryl continues its westerly path across the Caribbean and is set to impact the Yucatan Peninsula in the next few days, passing south of Cozumel Friday afternoon,” he said.

“The weather looks promising for Saturday, but local authorities must conduct an assessment after the storm passes Cozumel. They will keep us updated about port conditions. For now, we’re heading to Cozumel as planned, remaining a safe distance from the storm,” Mazzi continued.

Sailing from Tampa, the Carnival Paradise’s current cruise has also seen a similar change. Initially set to visit Cozumel in Mexico, the four-night itinerary is now headed to Nassau, in the Bahamas.

After first having the Cozumel call’s date changed, the current cruise of the Carnival Liberty also had a call to Belize cancelled.

“Hurricane Beryl is now moving through the Caribbean as a major storm. In preparation for its impact, officials in Belize have advised that the port will be closed Thursday, July 4, and our visit is now cancelled,” the ship’s Captain Arik stated.

According to Heald, Carnival tried to secure a substitute port, but no options were available, and the vessel remained at sea.
